Choosing a Sponsor/Godparent:
- Godparents should be at least 16 years of age and have already received the Sacrament of Baptism and Confirmation for themselves, and be good role-models of the Catholic faith.

- They will have to produce proof of the date of the Baptism and the date of their Confirmation with a record of their Sacraments dated recently from the church they were baptized at.

- One Godparent/Sponsor, male or female, is sufficient - two Godparents is traditional with one Godfather and one Godmother (not two Godmothers or two Godfathers).

- They should be able to be present at the time of the Baptism/Confirmation, but if it is not possible a proxy can stand in.
