The Domestic Church: Stories from Home #5
(The following submission is from Phillip Penna, a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church, who updates us on how he is maintaining community prayer through online tools! Thank you for your story!)
Thank you for the "Domestic Church" postings. They are very encouraging. I would like to share with you and our fellow parishioners the following:
For over a month, myself and two other parishioners have been praying the Rosary every evening at 7 pm (Sunday morning at 9 am). We gather via Skype. There are also other parishioners (and friends in other parishes) that pray with us at the same time.
We usually start with about 10 minutes of fellowship, then about 5 minutes of mentioning our intentions (we always mention our fellow parishioners in our prayers), and then we begin to pray together. We start the Rosary with prayers for protection and then end with a prayer to St. Joseph. On Sundays, we often include the Litany to Our Lady. On Divine Mercy Sunday we prayed also prayed the Divine Mercy Chaplet.
The three of us are enjoying our prayer and fellowship a great deal and find it quite fruitful. If anyone is interested in joining us, we gladly invite other members of the parish community to join us at 7 pm each evening (and Sundays at 9 am). You do not need to join by Skype if you do not wish to, but can join us praying at the same time on your own. We are all one in the Spirit.
(Share your story with us and we will feature you or your family on our parish website and social media to keep us connected to one another and to encourage each other in prayer! Get the kids involved too! Send us a photo of you/your family to go with your story!)
