Dear parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus & St. Alphonsus Liguori,
As of March 1, 2022, the Government of Ontario has lifted capacity restrictions across the province. On the same day, we received an official decree from His Excellency, Bishop Thomas Dowd who has lifted restrictions for our churches.
We have also contacted our local Health Unit, who has confirmed that the relaxing of social distancing is allowed.
Effective Immediately, the following are some changes you can expect to see when you come to church:
1) Face masks (covering mouth and nose at all times) continue to be mandatory for entrance into our churches for any event.
2) The use of hand sanitizer is encouraged upon entrance to the building and required before receiving the Eucharist.
3)Capacity limits have been completely lifted for both the church and hall, and ropes have been removed that were previously blocking off some pews.
4)Contact tracing measures are no longer required.
5)Receiving the Eucharist: Procedures for receiving the Eucharist in our parish will remain the same for those receiving Communion in the hand.
However, permission is now granted to receive the Eucharist on the tongue, for those who wish to do so. Those wishing to receive the Eucharist on the tongue are asked to wait until the end of the Communion line, then present themselves to the priest/deacon by properly leaning back your head, extending your tongue out, and remaining as steady as possible.
Everyone is asked for their patience and courtesy to your fellow parishioners as we adjust to these new changes.
