To our families of our First Communion candidates,
First, thank you all for your patience during this year - our planned dates have been postponed due to our church closures and limited capacity.
As we continue to navigate ongoing restrictions, and I know that many families are eager to celebrate First Communion - we have made the decision to offer all of our families an opportunity to celebrate your child's First Communion at any of our weekend or weekday Masses over the summer time.
Here's what you need to do:
1) Contact our parish office by phone (705-495-1501) or by email ([email protected]) and let us know which Mass you would like to attend to receive First Communion.
2) You can choose any of our Weekend or Weekday Masses to receive First Communion, and we will reserve one pew for your family. We are still currently under capacity restrictions - which means a max of 80 people at Holy Name of Jesus Church and 50 people at St. Alphonsus. This means we will have to limit how many families are registered for each Mass for First Communion.
3) Our current Mass Schedule is as follows:
Saturday: 4:00pm (Holy Name of Jesus)
Sunday: 9:00am (St. Alphonsus); 11:15am (Holy Name of Jesus); 4:00pm (Holy Name of Jesus)
Tuesday: 7:00pm (Holy Name of Jesus); Wednesday 9:00am (St. Alphonsus); Thursday 9:00am (Holy Name of Jesus); Friday 9:00am (Holy Name of Jesus).
4) Go through the final checklist we will provide with the child receiving their First Communion, so that they are prepared for this great moment in their life. With the delays since our at home preparation program, please go through the checklist and make sure your child is comfortable with all the steps before choosing to celebrate First Communion.
I realize that some may miss having a large celebration for First Communion, but with our continued restrictions, and the summer months of various commitments in your family, it was difficult to settle on one date for all families. We will make sure that this modified celebration will be memorable for your child.
If you have any further questions, please contact me or our parish office.
