VOCATION SUNDAY - SPOTLIGHT On this World Day of Prayer for Vocations, please include in your prayers that those the Lord is calling to serve the Church through a Vocation the priesthood, diaconate or religious life may have the courage to respond to his call! Here’s a little info on those who have responded to God’s call: BISHOP THOMAS DOWD (Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie) Born in Lachine, Quebec, Bishop Dowd entered the Seminary after a career in the tech world. He was ordained a priest in 2001 for the Archdiocese of Montreal. In 2011, Pope Benedict XVI named Bishop Dowd the Auxiliary Bishop of the Montreal, where he remained until his appointment by Pope Francis to become the Bishop of Sault Ste. Marie in 2020. The Bishop’s motto is Cor et anima una translated as “One heart and soul.”
FR. DANIELE MUSCOLINO (Our Parish Pastor) Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Fr. Daniele entered St. Peter’s Seminary in London, Ontario after spending years in studies for Communications, Italian and Religious Studies. He was ordained to the priesthood in 2016, and appointed Pastor of Holy Name of Jesus & St. Alphonsus Liguori in 2018. Fr. Daniele is also the Director of Vocations and Director of Youth & Young Adults for the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie.
DEACON ALLAN CHARETTE (Our Parish Deacon) Born in North Bay, Ontario, Deacon Allan is married and has five children. He spent his career as a butcher, and felt God calling him to serve as a Deacon of the Church during a Cursillo weekend. He was ordained a Deacon in 1980 and continues to be involved in many ministries within and outside of our parish community. TIM SILVER (Studying for the Priesthood) Born in North Bay, Ontario, Tim attended St. Joseph-Scollard Hall, and is a parishioner of Holy Name of Jesus Church. In 2015, Tim entered the religious community of the Companions of the Cross, and then began his studies for the priesthood at Sacred Heart Seminary in Detroit, Michigan. GOD CONTINUES TO CALL MANY TO SERVE THE CHURCH, PRAY THAT THEY WILL HAVE THE COURAGE TO SAY ‘YES’ TO GOD’S PLAN FOR THEM.
