2) HOLY WEEK BEGINS
This weekend, with Palm Sunday, is the beginning of Holy Week - the most sacred time in our calendar. This week we will journey with Jesus as he enters Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, he celebrates the first Mass and institutes the priesthood on Holy Thursday, he gives up his life for each one of us on Good Friday, and the glorious Resurrection at Easter.
The celebration from Holy Thursday through to the Easter Vigil is called the "Paschal Triduum" which means three days of prayer. You will notice that from Holy Thursday to the Easter Vigil is actually ONE celebration. We begin Mass on Holy Thursday in the normal way, but there is no ending. The Good Friday Service (the only day of the year where Mass is not celebrated) has no official beginning or end, and the Easter Vigil has no official beginning, but ends with the glorious celebration of the Resurrection! While most people attend "some" of these celebrations - it is actually important to attend ALL three, as it is ONE celebration during the Triduum, three days of holy prayer. You are encouraged to celebrate Holy Week with us by attending the fullness of the Easter Triduum.

4) ELEVATOR UPDATE A complete Retrofit was completed on our Elevator on Tuesday of this past week. We are now in the process of waiting for a TSSA Inspector to give his approval. Fr. Daniele has begged that this take place in time for Easter weekend. Of course we are eager to have this completed once and for all, but please we ask for your patience and understanding. Thank you to our parishioners who have generously donated to the cost of repairs!
5) VOTIVE CANDLES AT HOLY NAME OF JESUS???
Fr. Daniele spoke with our insurance company last week during their site inspection. Contrary to popular belief, we ARE permitted votive candles in our church. Is this something that our parishioners would like? Please let Fr. Daniele know. We would be looking to place a rack of candles for parishioners to light candles whenever they would like, located in the church proper. The cost would be approximately $2,500.00 for this new rack. Anyone out there willing to help with the cost?

9) DIVINE MERCY NOVENA - BEGINS GOOD FRIDAY
Jesus asked that this Novena (nine days of prayer) be prayed prior to the Feast of Divine Mercy (the Sunday after Easter), beginning on Good Friday. He gave Sr. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena. You are encouraged to begin praying this nine-day prayer offering beginning on Good Friday and ending on Divine Mercy Sunday (*April 24). Need help? How to pray the Divine Mercy Novena is available at the back of the church and online on our website!
10) WINDOW REPLACEMENT AT HOLY NAME OF JESUS
This past week, all the windows on the bottom floor of Holy Name of Jesus were removed and replaced with new windows. This includes all office windows, bathroom windows, hall windows and kitchen windows. Our windows were old, some broken and presented some security issues. Holy Name of Jesus recently received $7,500.00 in funding from the Ontario Government as part of the Ontario Grant to Support Anti-Hate Security Measures for Faith-Based and Cultural Organizations. We were awarded this grant a number of weeks ago to use for projects such as these. We are grateful for the funding provided!
