12 HOURS OF ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT FOR THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS You are invited to pray inside the church on Friday, June 11 from 9am to 9pm in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. When: Friday, June 11 - 9am to 9pm Where: Holy Name of Jesus Church How: You must call the parish office (705-495-1501) and sign up for a one hour time slot prior to June 11. A Maximum of 10 people are allowed in the church at any given time. Why: In an apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque (who we learn of devotion to Jesus’ Sacred Heart), Jesus spoke these beautiful words: “I have a burning thirst to be honoured by you in the Blessed Sacrament.” Go to adoration. Jesus desires to be with you, to have you gaze upon Him, as He so lovingly gazes upon you. WHAT IS ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT? Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is simply worshiping the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharistic Host (Blessed Sacrament) the full body, blood, soul and divinity of our Saviour. It is an extension of the Mass. The Catholic Church teaches us Adoration of the Eucharist extends our union with Christ after we receive Him during Mass. This worship of Jesus outside of Mass helps us maintain what we received during Communion. I’VE NEVER BEEN TO ADORATION - WHAT DO I DO? After entering the church, and acknowledging the presence of Jesus in the Eucharist by a reverent genuflection (kneeling), you can take a seat. You can spend one hour just adoring Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, you can pray a Rosary, you can pray the prayers for the Sacred Heart of Jesus (inside this bulletin), you can pray for a special intention you have been holding in your heart, you can pray for Vocations to the Priesthood/Religious Life, you can pray for yourself, your family members, friends, fellow parishioners, your pastor or any other intention or need you may have. You can just speak silently to the Lord about what is bringing you joy or stress, or you can just spend time basking in the presence of our Lord who looks on you with great love. “You could not keep watch with me for one hour?” (Mark 14:37)
